Summary:
Best known as a former member of Panic! at the Disco, Ryan Ross formed the band in 2004 with childhood friend Spencer Smith, the group's now ex-drummer. After recruiting Brendon Urie and Brent Wilson (who would later be replaced by Jon Walker, who would leave the band at the same time as Ryan), the band's debut album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out was released in 2005 which, while initially selling slowly soon became a commercial success, thanks in large part to the hit single "I Write Sins Not Tragedies". This was followed up by their 2008 album Pretty. Odd., which would turn out to be the last album Ryan would record with the band as in 2009 him and bassist Jon Walker left to form The Young Veins. Ross's new band would then go on to release one album, 2010's Take a Vacation! before going on hiatus that same year. Since then he has been largely inactive, though he has released a few songs here and there over the years.
At the start of his career he mostly sang in his mid range with fair usage of his high range and very little usage of his low range. Given that since 2010 he has released very little music, it's difficult to say whether his vocal style has changed at all since the start of his career. Though, going off what music he has released since, he appears to be using his low range more often recently, even getting down to the mid-second octave a couple of times. While he has been rather inactive for a while, his impact on the emo scene with Panic! at the Disco is not to be understated. One of the seminal bands of the genre, his musicianship has influenced many people since the mid 2000s.
