{Vocal Summary}As the lower female voice in ABBA, Frida was more often than not delegated to backing vocals in support of Agnetha's more presentable belting voice, though due to her more developed head voice she could go just as high as the leading lady and even surpassing her on a few occasions. Frida's solo material gave her a lot more space to explore her potential vocal facets, though she rarely used any kind of belting but having a few instances up to the mid-fifth octave, favoring her more effortless sounding dark lows and heady highs making her sound comfortable throughout her vocal range. When it came to lead vocals in the group, Frida's low notes were no less prominent than in her harmony-work, and her well-developed head voice allowed her to exploit some quasi-operatic qualities when singing higher. Because of her effortless sound as the primary backing vocalist in ABBA, Frida was the backbone of the harmonies, having to complement the lead vocals she performed all sorts of vocal acrobatics in the most covert of ways and if there were any doubts that she could keep up with Agnetha, both of the girls sang their live performances mostly in unison. Being heard in backing vocals throughout most of her more well-known appearances, it wouldn't occur to many but Frida is an impressively developed and versatile singer, and it's a bit of a shame her solo material is so sparse as it leaves much in the dark about what she could have gotten up to had she explored more of her talents.

Summary:

The other half of the voice of ABBA, more often than not the backing vocalist, though certainly no less important, Anni-Frid Lyngstad's way complementing Agnetha Fältskog's lead vocals is as iconic individually as the group's sound is in and of itself. With her dark but agile lows, and heady but bright highs, she formed the backbone of ABBA's instantly recognizable harmonies, effortlessly going as low as needed and going as high as needed in order to create the perfect sound Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson wanted. Anni-Frid wholeheartedly followed the 'money's in the basement' philosophy of Karen Carpenter whether she was in backing or lead vocals, but was also able to have fun with her quasi-operatic head voice she employed mostly in her early solo era. Where Agnetha surpassed Anni-Frid in pure presentable belting voice, though possessing a fair one herself the latter made up for the caveat in almost every way shape or form, making her perhaps the most versatile singer in ABBA. Despite her solo career not panning out successfully, fittingly Anni-Frid lives her life comfortably as literal royalty leaving the world silently reflecting that where Agnetha had the face, Anni-Frid most certainly had the voice.

Best known as one of the singing A's of 'ABBA', Anni-Frid Lyngstad, a.k.a. Frida, contributed her emotive Mezzo-Soprano to the group as counterpart to Agnetha's Soprano, during the band's ten year run. in the later years, Frida's voice developed an especially distinctive 'steely' style, which she showcased worldwide with her subsequent solo career. of course, in her home country of Sweden, even by the late 60's, Frida was an esteemed Jazz-Pop songstress, rising to fame with the silky lows and agile highs of songs like 'En Ledig Dag', highlighting Frida's versatility as a vocalist. Said versatility was furthered once Opera singing became her 'Party Trick', expressed mostly in more candid moments and interviews (not to mention being an unforgettable feature of ABBA's last recording 'The Day Before You Came').

Is it clear that the “Voulez-Vous” A5 and B5 are Frida and not Agnetha?

They always seemed pretty cut-and-dry to me. Frida has a rounder tone to her high notes and tends to sort of 'float' in that register, while Agnetha's highs tend to be quite metallic and have a more 'forward' mouth resonance, and I think that passage fits the former description better.

I agree :) I feel it sounds rather heavy and thick in tone, versus Aggie. Though I feel it could go either way; that is pretty high, and Aggie in the music video footage seems to be struggling to hold *a* note as the passage comes. So to me it’s unclear but I see where you’re coming from. I asked around on YouTube and people said it’s Aggie, not Frida, but I dispute that just the same.

Fwiw all performances during the single's promo were mimed including the music video, so I wouldn't say Agnetha flubbing pretend vowels is relevant lol. It was only months later during their US/EU tour it was sung live, with neither singer (or any singer present, for that matter) attempting those harmonies.

The better thing to show you would be one of these, multitracks that got leaked and then filtered. Frida's classic hv sound is more dominant to me:
