I'd have to say Tarja is my favorite vocalist, but I can respect Floor as well. Tarja has the advantage of being part of so many classic songs and having their discography written around her voice, and it's hard sometimes to even hear a phenomenal vocalist like Floor sing her parts. Even though Floor's only sang on one album, and it wasn't exactly their best material, her versatility makes her very exciting live, since she can destroy anything Olson did and has enough classical abilities to tap into some of what Tarja did. Looking forward to future releases.
Speaking of, Oceanborn is without question my favorite album. Imaginaerum is a fairly close second though.

Cool thread :) Floor is probably my favourite singer for the variety she brings. Tarja's operatic approach is cool, but it can get a little grating for me over the course of a whole set. Anette has some great charismatic warmth, and that suited her material well, but she was more limited in terms of technique, and was more inconsistent live, particularly with material from Tarja's tenure. Floor has it all covered. Just a shame that her only studio album with the band so far was a bit plain. I'm hopeful NW will deliver something stronger with her very soon. My favourite NW album has to be "Imaginaerum". It manages to span into a lot of different sounds, even a jazz ballad, whilst still feeling brilliantly cohesive, and maintaining a common thread throughout the whole thing, tieing it all together. I was only about 15 when I first heard it, and it absolutely blew my mind. It would definitely be in my top 5 albums of all-time.

My favourite singer is Floor, although the album with her was not their best, it felt like filler to make a full length album around greatest show on earth (which actually is a phenomenal track and imo their best), so I'd join the popular opinion here than Imaginaerum was their best album overall. But apparently the band is recording a new album now (a friend of mine is Tuomas' neighbor and apparently they're very far into production) so hopefully whatever is coming will do even greater justice to Floor's vocals. We'll see.

as some people said above, i fucking love floor jansen as well and consider her the best female singer of the genre, i fell in love with her just listening at the wacken 2013 concert, her deliver in all songs (im talking of re:vamp as well) is just plain out of this planet. i dont really like annete, she is kinda mediocre as a singer and tarja is extremely talented and well trained as classical singer but she is so attached to her classic sound (sometimes lacking expression) that is hard for me to love her as much as floor. maybe i could say my favourite album is oceanborn because of nostalgia but, i enjoy so much the wacken 2013 concert that i`m allowing myself to say that that dvd is my favorite nightwish work.

Like I did with the band called Angra, I would like to know your opinions about Nightwish. - Who is your favourite singer? Floor Jansen is my favorite of the three, hands down. Her range and power are impeccable to me, and I absolutely love her rendition of "Ghost Love Score." I also do like Anette, it's interesting hearing her ABBA-esque vocals in symphonic metal. Tarja would be my second favorite during the first two albums, but I feel as though her voice sort of "thinned" out after that (I don't know how to describe it, but you can hear the difference in both renditions of "Sleeping Sun"). - What is your favourite album? Ocean Born is my favorite in terms of composition. All the songs stand out to me as memorable and I liked their power metal sound a lot. I preferred songwriting during the Tarja era, so those would be most of my favorite albums from Nightwish.
