Tops out at B4 in the lead vocals, then sounds like soft D5s in the backing vox (edit: I'm not sure these are distinct enough in the mix say with certainty that they're vocal). Also faint A2s in the backing vox of the bridge.

So there's been some controversy(!) going on regarding fans accusing LaBrie of lip-syncing during Dream Theater's most recent tour, which he is very displeased about...


He mentioned that he was singing some parts an octave down, and MrToddington pointed out that in this performance of "Bridges in the Sky", you can hear that there's a backing track of him singing the part in the original octave, and then you can also faintly make out that he's singing it an octave lower beneath that.

I'm hearing some faint A2s there, so I guess we could put them in the thread as underlined notes?

Another new LaBrie track. I'm enjoying how he sounds on these overall, I think this more laid back style suits his voice a lot (though I am hoping for some slightly heavier stuff too, but we'll see when the album comes out next month).

A2s in the verses at 0:36 and 1:58.

Backing vocal C5s at 2:43 + 4:27, and a lead vocal one at 4:13.

Nah you can most certainly count them as "Wipeout" and "Canadian Rap" separately, the "What Did They Say" part is just a compilation of them goofing off and changing lyrics from a bunch of different performances, they just slapped all three bits together on the same track of the Fan Club CD for reasons I'm not sure of myself :)).

I had expected this one to have nothing significant, but the ending builds up to some rather ambitious sustained B4s and even a couple of D5s! Nice to see LaBrie going for it still.

So I listened to the full album today, and here are the other significant notes.

SuperNova Girl: E3, A4, B4, C#5
Sunset Ruin: D3, B4, C5
Hit Me Like a Brick: A2, C3, A4, C5
Wildflower: E3, B4, C#5
Conscience Calling: G2, A2, A4
What I Missed: A2, A4, C5, D5 (falsetto C5 too which was interesting)
Ramble On - B4, D5

Overall not a bad album - perhaps a little lacking in variety, but definitely LaBrie's most compelling vocals since The Astonishing. In particular the end of What I Missed as well as the cover of Ramble On are pretty good.
Worth a listen especially for fans of his MullMuzzler stuff.

Very interesting. His head voice is just fine but he's having a lot of trouble with his upper-mixed voice as though it's 1995 all over again.

Really puts into context the fact that he says he didn't feel fully better until 2002. I certainly don't know of any times he was like this after that.
