Yeah Platypus could we get you in this discussion at all? I'd greatly prefer to actually get assessments and feedback about these notes from the thread owner rather than just having the OP quietly updated with certain ones counted and others not, and no explanation provided for the decisions behind that. There's not even a number indicator in the spoiler to explain why the E♭5 is being ruled questionable. At least the thread is being updated regularly

Who better to end the Dave Mustaine range war than Dave Mustaine himself? This is a glorious moment in TRP history

Yeah, it's like he was watching the entire discussion here and say for himself (and for us too): "Well dudes, do you want legit low notes? You'll have legit low notes 😎" EDIT: Is the bold D2 from "Dogs of Chernobyl" that slide down at 3:24? Cause if it's so I'm not fully sure it really matches with his another boldable ones in the thread imo. maybe henny mack is actually Dave Mustaine and he was trying to expand his range this whole time!

There's not even a number indicator in the spoiler to explain why the E♭5 is being ruled questionable. At least the thread is being updated regularly Yeah I mean that's cool and all, but I would appreciate more communication regarding some of the updates. Modern TRP has gotten very in the habit of just quietly adding notes to the OP without doing as much to discuss them with the public or even acknowledge when they've been found sometimes. I think at the very least it would be polite to give a proper response to someone if you're deliberately choosing not to add a note that they brought up.
Anyway, cool to see that this "Dawn Patrol" debate be rendered moot by some actual better lows on the new album; I guess that one really did work out just in time. Personally I still believe that that one live version is countable down to E2 and that the studio version is countable down to C♯2, but I'll stop making a fuss out of it as long as he's being counted for those notes as part of his range in general. Those new low note finds make me very curious about the new album, so I'll be sure to check it out soon!

I think in a lot of cases that is done due to a lack of engagement regarding threads and posts. More communication is better true (and this thread is certainly) but I don’t blame people for making updates on their own because you can’t wait forever.

I think you guys are kinda missing the point. People are allowed to make updates to their threads without waiting for resolutions to note arguments, yes. No one ever said otherwise. People are also allowed to make their own calls for certain notes as thread owners and choose whether or not to add them regardless of what other people think, yes. Sometimes if enough people disagree or staff members intervene saying that they shouldn't be counting notes of a certain quality; that one can be flexible, but that's generally the gist of it.
Neither of those points are what I'm trying to get at here. I'm just saying that if someone brings up notes to add to a thread and you deliberately choose not to add them without giving any sort of explanation as to why, that's maybe a bit impolite. You're allowed to have your reasons why not to add them and treat that word as more or less final as the thread owner, but it would be nice to give some kind of closure to the person that brought them up to know the reason why they weren't included, rather than just leaving them feeling (in this case partially) ignored.
So in this case it would have been sufficient to say as much as "yo dawgz, nice F♯2s there but I'm not hearing the E2s in that one clip and I don't think the E♭5 is very good so I'm not adding either of those soz", and just leave it at that. People might still argue from there, but at least the OP would have said their piece about why the notes aren't there so no one would be left wondering about it.
Anyway, I hope that serves as a thorough enough explanation as to what I meant. I really didn't mean this to become a whole dramatic thing, but here we are.

Thanks homie, I appreciate the acknowledgment. Didn't realize that tendonitis was a factor in any of this; sorry to hear that. <3
Also for what it's worth this was kind of intended as a grievance against modern TRP in general, though this was one instance of it. Overall I'd just like if people (and especially thread owners) could speak up more when it comes to sharing their thoughts on notes (or even non-note discussion, like specific performances or vocal analysis), rather than other people bringing that stuff up and only getting a like and/or the notes added to the OP at most as a reaction to it. I understand how in your case dealing with tendonitis may make you want to type less, so that's definitely an outlying circumstance, but to anyone else reading this, perhaps take some consideration of how we could make our threads more engaging with better interaction like that. I also understand that there's not always something to be said about EVERY single note that gets brought up in a thread, so this is by no means an obligation to do so every time, but maybe if there's some kind of discussion that could be had, show some initiative for partaking in it rather than just wordlessly acknowledging the post.
okay /end soapbox

Well, there's gotta be a better way to do this than a forum... It requires active participation of a single individual maintainer instead of a group, plus it's painful to migrate ownership and there's no history. Knowing how we've largely moved comms to Discord is kind of cutting into the usefulness of this place too. I guess if you read the first letter of each sentence you'll see what I prefer.

Damn those are some beefy low notes on the new album. Cool to see Dave adapting to his natural voice changes and turning it into a strong point

Just heard this pretty solid cover...unfortunately nothing higher than F♯4 in the whole thing though; Dave opts for some pitchless false cord screams on the chorus instead of the fifth octave notes and tunes down/dodges the rest of the highs. I wanna say I maybe hear some faint lows down to G2 in the background around 2:27, but I can't really tell. That was a pretty good cover. When I heard Megadeth were doing a Judas Priest song, my expectations weren't the highest. But they picked a song with room to be reinterpreted, made it their own, and carried that off quite well.

Dave had a wild amount of nature vocal talent. Without really any work he had easy access to a high range, which he could add distortion too and hold notes for a long time. If he had taken it seriously and gotten some training he could have geuinally been a remarkable talent. I'm still a huge fan of his voice. but just looking at the cards he was delt I see a lack of realised potential.

In about 1995 I was working as a courier. I had a job one day to pick up and deliver a box of seven live gerbils to Brixton Academy. I arrived at the venue and was told the person who needed to sign for the package was in the main hall so I made my way there. Stage lights were on and Megadeth were doing a sound check. I heard Dave say "let's do dawn patrol and I'm gonna have some fun with it". They played it and, to my shock, Dave sang the song an octave lower than usual finishing with a booming note in the 1st octave that, when he stepped away from the mic, filled the whole hall. It was very impressive. After that they turned on the house lights and Dave sees me..... "Who the f*ck is that"? I explained who I was and Dave said "listen you little sh*head, you tell anyone about this and it's not just you but your family too" "Understood Dave" I said. "YOU WILL CALL ME MR MUSTAINE!" he screamed "Okay, okay" I said. Then the manager came over to me and signed for the gerbils and Dave got on the mic again, "Do not give a tip! You wanna tip? Here's a tip, shut your f*king mouth" Must have caught him on a bad day. Great low range though.

B4s in this live performance of "The Killing Road", performed a half-step higher than the original (it's not tape speed, Megadeth used E tuning in this period):

The backing vocals in "Death From Within" from Dystopia go up to a C5 during the chorus.
