Maurice Ernest Gibb (22 December 1949 - 12 January 2003)
Member Of: Bee Gees (1958 - 2003)
Vocal Range: D2 - E5
{Vocal Summary}Known as the "quiet Bee Gee", Maurice Gibb might have been the Bee Gee with the least amount of lead vocals (generally singing no more than a song per album), but he was also the band's musical anchor, being their most talented musician. And despite his lack of leads, in some ways Maurice may have been the band's most talented singer. While he was the lowest-placed of them vocally (slightly below Barry), he almost always sang the high harmonies in their earlier material, stretching all the way to the mid-'70s. After Barry's falsetto began taking more prominence, Maurice usually sang lower harmonies, occasionally dipping into the lower second octave without much difficulty. Think of him as the band's utility man: often overlooked, but always essential.
