Dylan Slocum (15 Feb 1988 - )
Member Of: Spanish Love Songs (2013 - present)
Vocal Range: G♯2 - C5
{Vocal Summary}While punk vocalists are often known for favoring energy and emotion over raw technical chops, Spanish Love Songs' frontman and primary songwriter Dylan Slocum is notable in that that he focuses said emotionality on sheer heart-wrenching despair. His belting register blends undeniable power and clarity with a rougher, more worn-sounding tone than that of his contemporaries, one built to scream-sing along to. His lows, meanwhile, have a hollow, defeated sound to them, as if too exhausted to cry out. Throughout all of this, there is his distinctive, shaky vibrato, a quavering sound that, despite being somewhat polarizing, is incredibly adept at portraying the strangely hopeful depression inherent in the band's best music. A singer perfectly equipped to deliver precise strikes to one's emotional well-being.
