Freya Ridings is an English singer-songwriter who found fame in the late 2010's with her emotive singles 'Castles' and 'Lost Without You'. She has spent some time honing her craft and has now launched her second album 'Blood Orange'. Freya excels in two major areas: firstly she has the ability to connect with her audience through emotive singing and beautiful instrumentation. Secondly, her voice is well-connected throughout with transitions being seamless and easy. She is a fairly textbook Mezzo Soprano, her voice is much richer and heavier than a Soprano's and it excels in the middle register, where she does a lot of her singing, usually in a husky mixed voice. Freya's upper register is solid, with her 5th octave notes being fairly potent and resonant, although there is a clear limit and she refrains from pushing herself too hard with her upper notes not really feeling like 'the end' but rather the extent of her comfort zone. The lower register is serviceable and has improved but could definitely be utilised more, as Freya's overall tone and sound suggests she could really exploit this part of her voice with further training. Freya is a vocalist who has been blessed with a natural talent and is also a great live performer, suggesting there could be some great vocal surprises to come in the future.
