Yo! My name is Jack, I’m a 23-year old baritone from Ohio and I’ve been a member of the community since 2017. My very first thread was Drake on TRP2. It’s taken me six years to realize I may as well share my own passion for singing and making music, so I’ve chosen five songs (for now?) to show you all! I wanted to get at least 3 octaves in there so the total range of these tracks goes from D2 - D5. Let me know if I sound good or terrible, I really just want attention!
“She Knows” A2 - F♯4 (G4)
My most recent cover as of right now. I recorded this as a tribute to my favorite singer, Richard Manuel, and posted it on the anniversary of his death. I was always a fan of his alternating between chest and head registers for dynamic purposes, sometimes on the same exact notes. I mimicked this in the E4 - F#4 range.
“Song to the Siren” E2 - B3
From a guitar recital I performed in during my senior year of college (I was the only person who sang, and also the only person who stood.) A very comfortable, baritonal song for me that mostly hangs out from B2 - A3. To make the final minute or so more interesting I added an upper neighboring tone (B3) during the last verse and finished by dropping to a quiet E2. Yes, I play an extremely wrong chord at 1:45. Meh.
“The Chordbusters March” B♭3 - D4 - D5
High school senior barbershop quartet. That’s me on the right (audience perspective!) All four of us were basses in the choir, but I was the only one who could sing in falsetto so I sang our tenor parts. D5 at the end.
“Misty Mountains Cold” D2 - G4 - A4
Six-part a cappella arrangement with lots of bass to show off that I have some low note capability. The arrangement is by Noah Wang and I recorded the vocals in my family’s basement when I was 18. Sorry it’s on SoundCloud, lol.
“Cerulean” D♯2 - G♯4 - C♯5
This is the only original song I’m including and I wrote it when I was 17. My vocals are heavily autotuned and processed in this one, but I never altered the pitches manually. Thus, I believe the range is still legit. Hoping to release some more original music soon, but it’s been a while.
