Here's a new interview : www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJocDm6sxcEHis primo passaggio is at F#3, which is extremely low. Basses are typically at G#3 and Profundos at G3. They talk about what happens when singers get sick, and he mentions being able to sing a D1 in chest voice when that happens, and it's not pretty. Well, apparently it is humanly possible. That’s really interesting. The basso profundo voice has always fascinated me.

If one enjoys classical or opera singing, then I find that the basso profundo voice compliments the typical voices or roles. At the opera, they usually don't sing lower than E2. In addition, most of the bass singing is towards the top of the bass range. In choral music, the bass part typically sings lower on average. Oktavists like Glenn Miller also employ the first octave, typically for sustained rumbles done in a fry voice. Then Glenn Miller and a very few others are able to sing in half of that octave in their chest voices, which makes for some very interesting low solos. As can be heard in the linked "the song of Simeon", which was actually written for Miller to sing in that key.

At about 17:00 in the Oktavist Talkbox he talks about still being able to hit E4s and Eb4s. I have no idea where those would be found, though. When I posted the video with his D4, someone told me he hit an E4 in the Verdi Requiem. I haven’t found any video of him singing the Verdi Requiem, but there is supposedly one out there where he hits an E4.
