Paul McCoy
Associated Acts: 12 Stones (2000-present)
Vocal Range: F2-F5 (3 octaves)
Vocal Type: Baritone Who Cannot Wake Up
{Vocal Summary}
Usually even the most of what is considered “butt rock” can still have singers that actually try. Louisiana native, Paul McCoy has had a unique career considering he was featured in one of the most well-know songs ever (Bring Me To Life), yet he and his band, 12 Stones have mostly gotten little recognition. On the service McCoy’s talents looks like just a typical post-grunge singer and in the early 2 records it did seem that way. In those times, he had a low gruff baritone singing style which still had the right amount of grit and mood and higher notes where mostly for screams which to his credit are higher than most post-grunge nu metal bands in the beginning being able to take the lower fifth octave with little issue. However around “Anthem For The Underdog” and to this day, he has gotten stronger as a vocalist managing to belt higher notes while still having the grunge gravel in his voice giving it more of a soulful feeling. His lower range is pretty strong too though just like most post-grunge vocalists uses the low range for more dramatic effects and almost rarely uses it. McCoy maybe not the world’s greatest singer in the genre he has made his career in however there’s still a lot that this man can offer more than just asking someone to wake him up.
