Pastor Robert "Rob" Benjamin Beckley
Associated Acts: Pillar (1998–present)
Vocal Range: C♯2-F5 (3 octaves, 4 notes)
Vocal Type: You Can’t Bring This Paratenor Down
{Vocal Summary}
When it comes to nu metal most vocalists tend to have a variety of vocal styles that can be used in certain songs or 3 in one which are mostly rapping, singing and screaming. Kansas native Rob Beckley is definitely one vocalist who excels in the three of them. Being from one of the most well-known Christian nu metal bands, Pillar he has been acclaimed for his delivery, flow and lyricism as a call for arms most definitely noticed due to his experience in the military. His early work did consist of singing in a mid-range voice but for the most part most of the early Pillar songs were rapped. His rapping style is definitely strong sounding similar to a more laid-back version of Zack de la Rocha or even a more "improved" version of the likes of Fred Durst. His singing is also strong mixed with a little bit of grit in his voice that gives the songs more personality. He is also a fantastic screamer able to shriek high in a matter of seconds sometimes without a build-up. His lower range however is pretty rare similar to most modern rock singers though the moments he uses it he does sound moody and melodious. Beckley has shown a lot of diversity and perseverance in his work and no matter if you're a nu metal stand or hater, he has a lot of skill to show which is to be respected. God bless you, brother.
