- Thin B5
- Yes, a little flat but yes
- Yes / I hear it a little closer to B5 personally
- Yes and for some reason I forgot to add it in the thread, thanks for the headsup! Edit: oddly enough I actually had it in my Google Doc of the thread, but not here haha
- Yup
- Ah nice to see he did it the G♯5 in other performances too / B♭5 / Oh shit, E6! Nice find!

- C6 / C6
- Yes
- Yeah cracking into an overtone of F5
- I hear it closer to B♭5, very satisfying tone haha / Yes
- Yes / I hear it starting at C♯6 personally / G♯5 / Close, C6
- I really like how he developed his belting in that area with VULGAR, reaching higher and higher notes
- Subharmonic B♭1, this one feels more controlled than usual, then he goes up to E♭5 / Yes, I hear some screaming that goes up to a sharp A5 but I think it might just be the audience / Yes
- Overtoney F5 I think, or F5 cracking into A5 maybe
- Subby fry-ish G2 with weird lower echo I think
- Inhaled G6 / I think goes up to E♭5 in exhaled, then switches to inhale and touches a very airy A6
- G5

Hi there, I merged your two latest comments to avoid double posting. If I don't answer for a few days, don't hesitate to just edit your latest comment with the extra fancams you find! I'll make sure I got your latest edit before answering anyway haha - G♯5 cracking into C6 falling back to a whistle fry (so overtones) G♯5
- Hearing it closer to B5 personally
- Yes
- Yes, already in the thread
- A5
- Hearing it closer to C6
- Slightly sharp C6
- I suppose you meant 1:06, I'm hearing a potentially inhaled C6
- Yes
- Pretty sure that's an inhaled B6, I'll add it in the questionable notes
- Yes
- Yes, F♯6, inhaled C7 at 4:30 too, will also add it in the questionable notes / Last one is an inhaled G♯6
- B♭5 and B5 a few seconds later, will count it and add it in the thread
- Peaks at E♭6, already in the thread. I think you might have already sent this one too?

I was at both Paris gigs hahaha, he pulled out several upper fifth/lower sixth whistle fry screams on the UROBOROS day, which I filmed in its entirety from the balcony. For the Withering to death. day I was in the pit and attempted a full audio recording from my pocket but it's unsalvageable. I was being pushed and pulled from all sides, it wasn't fun haha, it was much better from the balcony on day 2. I do remember he hit a whistle fry A5 during “Spilled Milk” though. Also I never headbanged so hard in my entire life before during “Reiketsu Nariseba” and “T.D.F.F.” on day 2 hahaha, and that B♭5 before the last chorus of “INCONVENIENT IDEAL” was clean as heck, it completely caught ouf of guard As for the sukekiyo show, I've found it somewhere full and will notewatch it as soon as I can!
Edit: I notewatched the sukekiyo show yesterday evening and added a few notes from it (search for "Zepp DiverCity 2024/02/20" in the thread). So now I can tell you what the timestamps were: 48:09 G♯5 (too weak too count imo), 52:25 B5 (I put it in the questionable notes), 1:10:06 subharmonic D2's (I ended up passing the subharmonic G♯1 in another performance of the song as countable since he's intentionally using the technique here), 1:11:54 whistle fry C♯5. I love when he goes for disgusting vocal improvisation like this lol

"The Devil in Me" has a decent vocal performance (even though this frantic gargling scream has been his go-to harsh vocal style post-Arche to a point it's becoming overused, I think it's employed well here). The song itself might be one of their least impressive singles. The composition isn't interesting and has these "castrated", abrupt type transitions they seem to be doing a lot lately, and while they could have counterbalanced the simple songstructure with interesting arrangement ideas, they failed to do that IMO (except for the vocals). The production is also awful, it's WAY to muddy, badly mixed and the drums sound flat and powerless.
I hope by the time this is released on an album the mix is fixed at least (like they did with Ochita Koto which sounds way much better on Phalaris than on the single release). Talking about Ochita, why does it feel like they've been remaking the same "somewhat minimalistic groovy type song with Kyo screeching over it" song over and over since Sustain the Untruth (then Ningen Wo Kaburu, then Ochita) but with increasingly diminishing returns?

I gotta say I was underwhelmed by the new single as well. Now it's probably gonna be a grower for me, I already liked it more when listening to it this morning, but it still feels confused to me (structure wise that is). It feels like a bunch of elements thrown into a song with a lack of cohesion between them. I like the ideas, but I feel like they could've been arranged better. Then again, maybe it was their intent to make the song's structure misleading? Also, I personally like that I can hear the bass clearly grooving and driving the song, but other than that the production is unpleasantly boomy and yeah, too muddy for me as well. I don't know, they seem to like that sound, I suppose. As for Kyo's vocals, they are actually the turn off for me :/. As someone said on the Diru subreddit, this style of gargling, unarticulated screams got old quickly for me. Due to that and the confused songwriting, it doesn't really feel like a DIR EN GREY song to me. I feel like they didn't quite know what to do with all their ideas, if that makes sense? I still like the song by itself because it's groovy and has interesting parts, just not as a DIR EN GREY song. They're one of my favourite bands, so with the UROBOROS-TIW era I got used to have higher expectations for their works, I suppose.
