Longevity in rock music can be impressive since sometimes people will wonder if a singer can still have the same techniques in singing or at least can each the same notes they could when they were fresh in their career. Kevin Young of the acclaimed Christian metal band, Disciple is definitely someone who follows that description. His gritty tenor voice has been lauded as powerful, soulful, and aggressive and still managed to sound the same from early 90s to now. His high register is strong as his texture has a youthful tone to it mixed with that rocker grit being able to sustain them up to the upper fourth octave and higher while even higher notes where mostly screamed in his earlier career but as the years went by can also go higher in backing vocals. His early work as also consisted of him having a rap-like flow in his delivery which was fierce and passionate. His screaming is also very well-known, described as very shrieky but still have a clear note to them and very easy to tell it’s him when he is doing guest vocals. His lower register is also well-adjusted and though he doesn’t go that low or even uses it that much he still is able to sound moody when singing and sometimes even has moments of spoken word passages. Young is a man of God who does not seem to have any plans of quitting after having almost close to four decades of music and still making more and still going strong.
