Aaron Watkins
Associated Acts: Random Hero (2008-present)
Vocal Range: B1-F♯5 (3 octaves, 7 notes)
Vocal Type: Tension Feeling Tenor
{Vocal Summary}
Modern rock has a bit of a spotty reputation has to only appeal to younger audiences that can be struggling with personal issues while not really being all about the musicality and art about it. While Colorado native, Aaron Watkins of the indie arena stomping Christian alt hard rock group, Random Hero may fall into that description, he still can make up for it with his skills as a singer. Watkins is a lower tenor with a gritty delivery mixed with the obvious Linkin Park-inspired sound of the band and has a strong musical flow when it comes to the velocity of the music that can make you head bang and even dance if you want. His high register is decent with his Bennington inspire rasp which in early in his career sang in a mid-range area while even higher notes where mostly screamed. However, as he and his band went on their career, he began to expand his range a lot more being able to sing in the lower fifth octave and even start doing more head voice. His lower range while rarely used is also decent though he seems to only use it as backing vocals or sometimes spoken word moments which got rarer as the band progressed. While Watkins and his music may seem too similar to most nightcore fan favorites, he still has a lot of skill, progression and emotion in his voice and only time will tell if he still has more to offer in the future.
