Timothy Charles Buckley III (14 February 1947 - 29 June 1975)
Vocal Range: F♯2 - B5
The great tragedy of Tim Buckley is his late, posthumous reappraisal, and by virtue the limited reach of his musical lineage. It is somewhat ironic that in the internet age, during which anyone can take influences from anywhere, no one truly does make them like Tim Buckley anymore. His influences were of the prelapsarian music industry: jazz in the wake of vinyl, avant-garde in its uneasy early stages and singer-songwriters of the Great Depression make for just a few of the apparent makers of Buckley's musical destiny. He's been drifting away from this mortal plane for almost fifty years, the distance growing ever greater from the perpetual motion of music and its machinations.
But it does not have to be so. Tim's unrelenting desire to experiment with his artistry resonates within musicians perhaps deeper than ever before, and his unhinged career trajectory which managed to keep spinning just eight years undoubtedly made him a hero to music enthusiasts who would dare tread the waters with him. He may have been doomed to get lost on his orbit, but we can still hear him moaning and howling from way beyond the path he lit for those who would be his acolytes, and the torch is never too far away. Tim's voice being his main instrument, it was emblematic of the hunger he felt for the new frontiers, which he knew we will either find or they will find us. Until next time, we say goodbye and hello to Tim Buckley all over again.

1. Questionable quality
a. Jesus Christ, what
b. Short yelp
c. Crackled scream
2. Questionable intent
a. Breathy, short anacrusis
b. Okay, so I'll treat you good people to my ruminations on this note, since it actually isn't all that terrible when you take it in a vacuum. I feel like the one F2 in this song (1:08) is at best an incidental trail downwards, and I don't think that's how the melody is supposed to go anyhow. The syllables in the passage don't match with a definite descent to F2, if that makes sense. There would be one other syllable (for example "town" in "downtown") to signify a resolution. He goes on to resolve a few passages down to F3 while singing "downtown", whereas here he intentionally leaves the "town" part of "downtown" out.
