{Vocal Summary}
Modern rock has had such a huge influence on the youth especially around the 2000s to now, especially when it comes to alternative and nu metal, to the point of being staples of perseverance and encouragement. Ontario native, Trevor McNevan, also known as “Teerawk” is definitely one of the major figures in alt rock, metal and punk that has been given acclaim and a strong fanbase for his powerful voice, relatable lyrics and the tone of most of his music being very welcoming for a first-time listener. Being the front man of two well-known projects that heavier, rocking alternative metal band, Thousand Foot Krutch and the more upbeat pop punk project, FM Static, Teerawk has shown to be a very diverse vocalist in each of these main projects. As a whole, Teerawk is a tenor who mostly sings in a mid-range pitch and has been said to sound kind of similar to the likes of Jonathan Davis, Chester Bennington, and his friend Adam Gontier as he has kind of a nasal texture, moments of unpredictable lash outs, powerful belting and even creative uses of the falsetto. Also being mostly in nu metal he is a master at the three typical nu metal vocal styles, singing, screaming, and rapping (a talent he would prominently explore in his hip-hop project, I Am The Storm). His high range is mostly defined as when he belts, he sounds very clean in comparison to his mid-range singing with has grit and plus his Canadian accent is very noticeable, and also didn’t use it as much in his early career until around “Phenomenon” he begins to have more control of his highs and only got better with time being able to sing up around the mid-fifth octave similar to classic rock singers. Another unique aspect about his highs is his use of falsettos as he would use a mix of lead in one word but falsetto in another word making him sound very weird but still manages to make it work. His lower range is also very strong being able to go as low around the mid-second octave in with tacked, though as his career went started to use it less and less but still uses it as spoken word (or rapping), backing vocals and even the “attitude” fry to make himself sound intimidating as he sometimes likes to go a little bit over-the-top in a humorous manner. Teerawk is definitely one of the most well-known modern rock singers of this time famous with Christians and non-Christians alike and it is warranted in how much his words have touched many people, like me as he was the first rock singer I knew by name back in my teens and without him I would not be here. So, in making this thread, this is my way of saying "thank you".
