Which basses have the best high chest notes? I do not mean mixed M2 notes, I mean real, legitimate M1 notes. Ideally they should be operatic basses, but they could also be contemporary.

Bass-baritone is used to describe either a high bass or a low baritone, so it's possible someone can be considered both a bass and a bass-baritone at the same time. It also describes largely certain types of roles that could be sung by either a bass or a baritone with a good low range, such as the role of Figaro in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro.

I don't know where his passaggi are found precisely, but he has the naturally dark timbre that makes his high notes stand out. Interesting! Any others?
