Basses' High Chest Notes (Ideally Opera; Could Be Pop) (508 views)

Which basses have the best high chest notes? I do not mean mixed M2 notes, I mean real, legitimate M1 notes. Ideally they should be operatic basses, but they could also be contemporary.

Some times they would be referred to as "bass baritones" because of their high note ability. This one was arguably a true bass with a very extended upper register :

His G4s are really good, his A4 isn't bad either.

Bass-baritone is used to describe either a high bass or a low baritone, so it's possible someone can be considered both a bass and a bass-baritone at the same time. It also describes largely certain types of roles that could be sung by either a bass or a baritone with a good low range, such as the role of Figaro in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro.
