{Background & Vocal Summary:}Jessica Simpson is an American singer and actress known for hit song such as "I Wanna Love You Forever" and "With You". Before her career began, she tried auditioning for "The Mickey Mouse Club" but failed to get in. She soon made a demo CD titled "Jessica" when she was around 14 although it originally was not released due to the label going bankrupt. Eventually she was signed to a different label and released her debut album "Sweet Kisses" in 1999 which featured her most successful song "I Wanna Love You Forever". Her follow-up album was released in 2001 titled "Irresistible" and despite being more successful to her previous album, it received negative reviews. She soon released her next album in 2003 titled "In This Skin". The album is her most successful effort to date and was largely helped by her increase in popularity due to her reality show with her husband titled "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica" which ran until the couple announced their divorce in 2005. Her next album "A Public Affair" saw a decline in sales and she eventually decided to go for a more country-oriented sound with her album "Do You Know", although the album was given negative reviews and wasn't commercially successful. Her most recent effort was her Christmas album titled "Happy Christmas" in 2010 which made it her second Christmas album (her first being 2004’s "ReJoyce: The Christmas Album"). As of now, Jessica is currently working on her eighth album which is slated for a 2017 release.
Jessica is a definite soprano showing ease with her highs despite her voice declining in her career. In her early career, Jessica possessed a bright and strong soprano voice that showed great potential with some powerful belting ("A Chorus Line", "I Wanna Love You Forever", "Your Faith In Me") and she was usually consistent live. However Jessica possesses horrible technique (such as high larynx when belting) and her voice gained an unpleasant quality around the time after her second album with her belting ability diminished in quality although the ease was still there being able to reach her highest notes when she wished. Nowadays her voice unfortunately still suffers from the damage that she has done to it and she hasn't sung above F5 in years. Besides her belting, her lower register is fairly average and isn't particularly strong although she can have some nice notes occasionally ("Forbidden Fruit", "His Eye Is On The Sparrow", "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)").
