{Vocal Summary}
Metalcore has been seen sometimes as one of the black sheep genres of metal with some arguing it is more punk than metal. Some may not care and accept anything the genre may give however for most one of the worst things to add to metal for some is rap elements. Many would call that cringe and too try hard. Thankfully, Oregon native, Chris Ratzlaff of the quirky yet brutal melodic metalcore band Fallstar managed to make it work when it looked like it shouldn't have. Ratzlaff love for singing, screaming and rapping as made him into one of the more unique core vocalists of the past decade with his passionate reggae-inspired tenor cleans, guttural lows, high shrieks and all around fun and passionate delivered flow. His highs are very well controlled when it comes to his singing being able to melodically tread from one tone to the other and his screaming is definitely one of the genre's most highest shrieks almost close in reaching the sixth octave. He also tends to go from mid range yelling when he is about to do his death growls which make for a unique style. His lows while mostly use in the background are still pretty solid being able to set the correct mood when needed. Ratzlaff may look like a try-hard core vocalist with the confusing methods he uses but nevertheless that only shows an immense passion for the craft needed to stand out
