{Vocal Summary}
There are some vocalists in metal who only do screams and others who do melodic singing. Then you have vocalists who do both perfectly throughout their career. That's basically Sean McCulloch’s career in a nutshell. Fronting the southern-tinged metalcore group Phinehas, McCulloch has been lauded for beautifully balancing his voice from cleans to uncleans in his music even during the start of his time in the band. His vocals are emotional, passionate, and have a lot of skill in dynamics. Being a tenor, McCulloch’s voice for the most part is clear when singing however when screaming he mostly resorts to low pitch growling and occasional high shrieks and punkish yelling all sometimes done on the same song. His lower register is also well used despite him mostly staying in the C3 and rarely going lower, however still demonstrates great control of his voice when going a bit moodier. McCulloch is one prime example of a metalcore vocalist that can do both melody and harshness and whatever he touches is bound to make the songs more impactful and unique.
