{Vocal Summary}
Metal and punk mixed together brings the most aggressive music you can imagine with metal’s complex chunkiness with punk’s relentless aggression. Many bands have done great things in metalcore specifically but some would say that straight edge metallic hardcore is where the most passionate of the mix can be with them mixing the thunderous sound along with a massage. Enter Tommy Green, formerly of the well known and well loved preachcore band, Sleeping Giant, and current vocalist of the Eastern Orthodox drone worship band, HolyName. Green has been considered as one of the most outspoken, passionate vocalists in hardcore especially around the Christian hardcore scene. His early work with his broken sounding yells, gnarly growls, urgent spoken-word passages that almost sounds like a sermon with slam poetry authority along with his fervent clean singing, Green has been a staple of the genre for as long as he entered it. Green unlike a majority of core singers is a baritone who for the most part has his singing at mostly a mid range level though like most punk vocalists doesn’t always use his lower register much. His higher register is more prominently used especially when singing and screaming. On his uncleans specifically, Green used to use a lot of the gruff yelling type of screaming most well known in the genre. However around the late 2010s most of his texture started to lose the early distortion he had in the first 3 albums of Sleeping Giant which resulted in him mostly doing casual yelling in the other releases and abandoning screaming all together with HolyName where he sings primarily and guest vocalists (or other band members) scream in the songs. Despite this his singing however has gotten a bit more stronger being able to belt more higher notes and do more harmonize melodies. Green is a remarkable vocalist with a lot of vehemence in his performances, stances and messages and it looks like he still has a lot more to offer in the future. Бережи вас Бог, брате.
