Trevor Pool
Associated Acts: My Heart To Fear (2005-present)
Vocal Range: F♯2-E♭5 (2 octaves, 9 notes)
Vocal Type: 4th Dimension Tenor
{Vocal Summary}
Progressive metal and metalcore make for an interesting mix of complexity and aggression. Pennsylvania resident Trevor Pool of the technical core band My Heart To Fear uses this genre to showcase a lot of what he can do with his voice. His clean tenor is paired with his low hardcore yells which are frantic and emotional in mood. His melodic voice to me sounds very unique as it is daily well polished and powerful sounding similar to other prog contemporaries like Tommy Giles Rogers and Rody Walker. He knows how to balance between his cleans and uncleans in a way that makes him a more ambitious vocalist in metalcore compared to most who rather have the singer and screamer separate. On his screaming, Pool tends to scream around the mid range and occasionally does go higher when needed but doesn’t overdo it with how vulnerable he tends to sound. He is also one of the only vocalists who use their lower range a lot in backing vocals and actually does go an octave lower. While his discography is short, Pool still to me is an underrated metalcore singer who has a lot of sincerity and passion in his performances that hopefully would still want to show more in the future.
