Leroy Hamp
Associated Acts: War Of Ages (2002–present)
Vocal Range: G2-F♯5 (2 octaves, 11 notes)
Vocal Type: Conquering Tenor Returning To Life
{Vocal Summary}
Hailed as one of the most persistent figures in metalcore with a faith-based message, Leroy Hamp of the Pennsylvanian warriors band, War Of Ages has proven to be one of the more expressive and consistent vocalists in the genre. His passionate screams in his music are said as one of a kind and worshipful. His vocals have a mix of going with the standard mid-range punkish yelling but with a more direct emotion to the delivery as if he was really trying to get the point across and around most of his early career only focused on that and occasional spoken word passages that are also given the same amount of vehement in ways that almost sounds like as if he was rapping. It wasn’t until the middle part of his career where he gave a chance to melodic singing and he managed to do that flawlessly. With his singing he reveals himself as a tenor with a clean texture in contrast to his screaming which was mostly mid range but even his screaming managed to go much higher as his career went. Back to his clean vocals, he belts and croons all with minimal issue as well as doing good duets with any of his band members who may provide backing vocals for at the time he mostly did it a few times in the beginning while another band member did the cleans but as members went he got more confidence on dual vocals which sound very consistent from studio version to live. His lower range, as typical of most metalcore singers is not that used a lot but at times he does manage to surprise with a few moments but mostly his lower notes are mostly spoken. Hamp is a man of vocal talent and from starting from the mid 2000s to still making music to this day makes this brother a worthwhile vocalist with a lot of great tunes for anyone into heavy worship.
