Dawn Richardson Michele
Associated Acts: Fireflight (1999-present)
Vocal Range: D3-G5 (2 octaves, 4 notes)
Vocal Type: Innovative Harm Healed Mezzo-Soprano
{Vocal Summary}
Women in rock and metal are badass. No one can argue against that. That will be a fact until the end of time. Whether it be in new wave, indie, alternative, and the heaviest that metal can offer, they can kick ass in many ways. And one of these ladies that was one of the first to introduce kid me to women who can rock is Florida resident, Dawn Michele of the soaring rock band, Fireflight. Michele’s voice is lauded as being a powerful, emotive mezzo soprano, and can go from many emotions from power to vulnerability. Michele has a strong timbre similar to that of southern singers with the power of the rock and roll to belt high notes. In her early days, Michele mostly sang in a mid-range tone and unlike contemporaries in most women-fronted bands with an alt-metal edge, Michele doesn’t scream but another band member does. It wasn’t until their official release where Michele began to belt higher notes which got more prominent as her career went. Michele also is a master at her low range as well, crooning a couple times to the around almost the lowest third octave and quickly leads her voice down many moods and tones. Michele is well-known for a reason as one of the biggest faces in Christian rock as a woman with a lot of passion for her craft and giving inspiration for many to follow their dreams and hopefully she has more to offer in the future
