Deena Jakoub
Associated Acts: Don't Wake Aislin (2005-2012), VERIDIA (2013-present)
Vocal Range: C♯3-C♯6 (3 octaves)
Vocal Type: Pain Relieved Soprano Who Stopped Overfeeding The Beast
{Vocal Summary}
Originally from Austin, Texas, Deena Jakoub has been turning heads in the 2010s to now for her unique voice and blend of rock and pop with a lot of soul and passion. First starting out as the lead singer of the core inspired Don’t Wake Aislin, she spent her time with her strong soprano voice belting mid fifth octave notes mixed with a few screams in the mix. It was until the band’s breakup when Jakoub formed Veridia where she would take her vocals to new extremes. While abandoning screaming, Jakoub still maintains strong belting into the mix of her songs as well as more use of her lower register in which she has done before in her DWA years but now more prominently. Her highs are very inspired by Rnb and pop acts while still maintaining the rock attitude as well as some Arabic-inspired inflections as well given her background as Egyptian. Her head voice and falsetto got more stronger and atmospheric alongside the backing tracks and her lows got moodier and mixed with the sass the typical pop acts may have but still manages to sound authentic rather than putting on a facade. Jakoub is a talented woman with many skills and with her growing popularity it is good to say that her work is paving the way to inspire others to use their voice in creative and powerful ways.
