Vocal Type: Baptized In Beautiful Zeal Tenor
{Vocal Summary}
One criticism that worship tends to have is that for the most part seems basic and bland in musical composition and in lyrics which for some seems very contradictory to the God they worship since He is The Creator of all therefore why isn’t the music that worships Him creative in it of itself? Most bands that identify as Christian do have variety from expanding genres but one in particular stands to be unique in their own right. Washington resident Chad Gardner of the genre sea, Kings Kaleidoscope is one of those willing to expand outside of what typical worship. From soulful cries, to tasteful melodies mixed with elements of indie, funk, alternative, folk, symphonic and even hip-hop, Gardner demonstrates himself as one of Christian music’s renaissance men with a lot of passion for the craft. Gardner is a tenor with a warm buttery smooth texture to his voice making him sound similar to the likes of Randy Newman or Phil Collins but with a more youthful tone that is very emotive and passive aggressive which meshes well with adding organization to the beautiful chaos of the music. He sings with strong control with his highs and even mixes between his chest voice with his head voice and falsetto being able to go up to the half of the fifth octave. His lower register is also strong for a tenor to almost croon notes around the mid second octave. Gardner has shown many people of faith what they can do with worship when it is actually meant to worship a Creator with creativity without having the pretension of art over all and in my opinion did it perfectly.
