Summary: Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson (known as "Lykke Li") is a popular Swedish singer-songwriter, famed for hits like "Get Some" and "I Follow Rivers". Lykke always had a particular voice, with a "mousy" tone, well rounded by minimalist and ambient music. She prefers letting her voice shine in most of her tracks instead of having heavy produced songs, which is quite unusual, but worked well for her, and still does. The finesse of her art has been acclaimed ever since her first album, Youth Novels, where she showcases a girlish and thin soprano voice. Her placement changed a bit with time, she got more nasal, and developed a fuller sound in the fourth octave, where she mainly shines in her albums Wounded Rhymes and I Never Learn. She also got more comfortable in her lower register, despite the fact that it was still shaky and uncertain. While her falsetto was her main tool in Youth Novels, it was no longer the case by the time Wounded Rhymes got released. However, she’s still capable of doing really great with her upper range, and showcases it well in her most recent album so sad so sexy and EP, still sad still sexy, where she sings with a fresh and light falsetto, attempting her highest notes. She also showcases a rare and infrequent ease on her fifth octave belts, and her low notes are fuller. Her collaboration with Mark Ronson, the fabulous Late Night Feelings, also proves she can easily phrase high notes, and still has the ability to fully exploit her Youth Novels voice. She surely doesn’t have a big voice, but her talent is still way more than enough to give her a unique edge in music.
