{Vocal Summary}
Hailing from Alabama, Dave Stovall has had a unique career being the front man and guitarist of the indie madmen, Wavorly. The band has had one of the most critically acclaimed Christian indie rock albums and then almost disappeared with very little action behind the scenes. Nevertheless, for what little the band did, Stovall still had other projects to demonstrate his talents. Vocally, Stovall is a very emotion driven tenor with a folk and emo twang to his voice sounding both dreary like with folk and vehement like with emo. Early in his career, Stovall played punk music where he had the veracity of the genre singing fast and even doing a couple of screams as well. Once he started Wavorly, Stovall for the most part stayed in the middle range never going beyond the fifth or to below the second octave. However, he did go lower in the background and more recently does the same with his falsetto in recent songs, which for me can be a bit disappointing but still he does manage to do what he can with his singing. While he doesn’t have much in his catalog it is still fascinating to see a guy who did one great project still manage to have the recognition and still do much in terms of projects all for praise and adoration of the One True God.
