Summary:
Belinda-Lee Reid is an Australian singer and guitarist. She was the co-lead vocalist and the longest-serving rhythm guitarist for the rock band Lash. The band released their only album The Beautiful and the Damned in 2002. A cover of Lash's first single "Take Me Away" with Christina Vidal on vocals, originally sung by vocalist/bassist Micaela Slayford, was featured on and put onto the soundtrack of the highly successful movie "Freaky Friday" featuring Lindsay Lohan and Jaime Lee Curtis in 2003. Belinda-Lee sang lead vocals on the band's second single, "Beauty Queen", which was also put onto the "Freaky Friday" soundtrack. The band broke up later that year. Belinda-Lee later went on to release a self-titled EP with the band "The Silver Scene", which unfortunately did not gain widespread appeal.
Belinda-Lee's voice has a distinct distorted tone that is noticeable across all parts of her range. Both ends of her range are quite well-refined, with many strong upper 3rd octave and lower 5th octave melody lines, though range-wise she has a conservative style, focusing more on maintaining said timbre. She avoids singing in the upper 5th octave despite her high placement, but does often belt with extreme strength and stability in the upper 4th and lower 5th octaves, mostly in the The Beautiful and the Damned album, in songs such as "Caged My Soul" and "Dumb". She uses her low range on many songs as well, most notably in her work in The Silver Scene, singing briefly yet steadily down to the mid to upper 3rd octave on songs such as "She Loves You" and "Tonight". Along with her varied musical styles, Belinda's harsh high-placed multi-layered vocals help her music stand out from others, whether it's backing or co-leading the lower-placed Micaela Slayford or singing lead or backing herself on her own songs.
