Rosu is an utaite who’s a little more on the underground side of the scene, however with a couple of songs that caught a more mainstream attention, the most obvious example being “Jishu”, which I strongly advise checking out to get a good taste of her voice. Not only is she a good vocalist, but also an interesting composer, lyricist and producer, having a rather avant-garde approach to J-Pop.
Vocally speaking, Rosu is a low placed soprano with comfortable, well used and developed lows down to E3, and a bright and particularly agile high register. Her naturally smoky tone compliments her low register well, often dialling in some vocal fry and a pleasant breathiness while still keeping a good tonal quality down there, as well as an occasional tight vibrato. Her high register is the most intricate part of her voice. She can go from a soft and light falsetto to belty head voice, chesty belts, while also adding in some rasp and piercing mixed notes. Her immense agility in it shows through her signature vocal flips to head voice at the end of words and her tight vibrato used for precise and quick melodic lines, reminiscent of traditional Japanese singing, which we also often find in her compositions. Being only 20, Rosu already has a strong and singular personality as both a singer and composer that will hopefully lead her to a more mainstream exposure.
