{Vocal Summary}Mica Tenenbaum is best known as one half of Magdalena Bay, an alternative/synthpop duo (featuring her and [musical] partner Matthew Lewin) whose otherworldly sound brims with creativity and atmosphere (also marked by their equally distinctive DYI tinged visual style). As the distinctive lead vocal presence in the music, Mica's gone through some evolving ever since Magdalena Bay's first singles; while she's always maintained a bright and clear soprano voice, her tone was a tad heavier and more dramatic, singing similarly to how she sang on her previous musical group (a progressive rock band named Tabula Rasa). Her vocal tone would turn even brighter and bubblier around 2019 (think mini mix vol. 1 and beyond), harkening to pop sensations such as Kylie Minogue and Cyndi Lauper but with a predominantly dreamier and lighter delivery. Regardless, she's capable of sounding either spacey or intense and emotive with an easy and versatile upper 4th/lower 5th octave register. Not much to say about her lower register, but it does seem stronger than it would lead on. On top of that, more recently releases have shown further use and growth in her upper 5th octave falsetto register in some gorgeous and emotive vocal displays. One can only anticipate what the future holds in store for her vocal stylings.
