Italics mark non-melodic notes.
Boldface marks notes that are considered to be particularly notable examples of this person's vocal capabilities.
{Questionable Notes}
Fuck it, we're doing things qualitative this time round.
F♯5 ("The State I'm In" [4])
F5 ("Troy" Live in London, [2])
D3 ("Just Call Me Joe" [1])
A2 ("Dancing Lessons" [3], "How Nice a Woman Can Be" [5], "Where Have You Been?" [5])
So, just a quick note on the "Black Boys on Mopeds" E♭3. I did a lot of back and forth with myself about whether or not it's definitely her voice. It is kinda strong for where he voice was at at that stage (although there is a proximity effect going on with the mic which might mean it's actually quite soft and I mean… anyone who's ever played around with a DAW knows how beefy you can make your lows sound with the dials set right). The liner notes for I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got rather ominously list "The Muses" as having performed backing vocals for the album, but the thing is, there's actually very little backing vocals on the album at all, and they're all pretty clearly Sinéad? The only song that's a maybe is her signature song, but the single credits for that explicitly credit her separately for backing vocals, so that rules that out too, leaving only "Black Boys on Mopeds" as the remaining candidate. I'm honestly not convinced that "The Muses" exist at all, so I've got no real compelling reason to believe that the two harmonies in "Black Boys on Mopeds" are anyone other than Sinéad herself.
.......................................................
[1] This sounds kinda masculine, I don't think this is Sinéad. I also don't think I've ever noticed this being there before lol, macbook soundcard is treating me.
[2] It's giving a little too much.
[3] Not entirely convinced this is a voice. Blandinna Melky Jean is also credited on this song (she's Wyclef's sister apparently and was in another group called Melky Sedeck), but I'm pretty sure she's doing some of the higher singing if she's in the mix at all.
[4] On the off chance that this is Anne Preven. She's definitely the voice doing the "oohs" in the chorus and again near the end of the song during one of the later verses.
[5] Not sure she actually gets this harmony down past C3.
