Her belts are out of this world. Is she even human to support that high?? Sohyang is amazing, but what's so difficult about supporting a 5th octave note? If you have good basic breath support, you, of course, also support upper belts

All though that's still very impressive.

If you have good basic breath support, you, of course, also support upper belts There’s a huge difference between supporting a C5 and a B5 with ease, you know. Of course, with a great technique, it’s not that hard to support notes, but still, the higher, the harder. Her technique is impeccable and she’s a remarkable singer.

The soprano range is C4 - C4, so she can belt higher than the highet head voice notes of the soprano range, that's aaabsolutely insane.
My comment has nothing to do with Sohyang per se, but rather with those people (Matheus followers) who always and everywhere use the nonsensical term "supported range", who think that it is sth special to have breath support in 5th octave belts and freak out over a belted D5 by saying "omg, it is supported". lol
...and they think e.g. that singers who support a C5 suddenly have no support on a D5 anymore. Never. And usually non of them knows what breath support and they confuse it with other terms (thanks to Matheus' weird YT channels). There are two main groups of these people:
a) those who confuse breath support with vowel modifications and think that round vowels means having breath support and bright vowels means having no support. This is also the reason why they think singers switch at a specific note from support to no support at all: when they need to switch to brighter vowels. But this has nothing to do with breath support
b) those who simply make up random notes for the "supported range" and share the among each other
And most of them have no clue what breath support means and how to determine whether there is or not. Aaand they usually think that support is the opposite of strain. They think that having breath support automatically means not straining.
Funny concept

Aaand they usually think that support is the opposite of strain. They think that having breath support automatically means not straining. Funny concept You mean C4-C6 I assume. And that'd be the standard range needed for a soprano repertoire in opera. Not really a full range of the soprano voice. Yes, the whole concept of 'supported range' doesn't make much sense. Especially considering how actual breath support doesn't have much to do with vocal freedom, larynx position etc. as they imply it does. People also conflate the terms 'resonance' and 'ring' on YouTube. Not to mention 'resonance' doesn't mean much on its own, and 'ring' doesn't really actually apply in contemporary concept (in most cases). What they usually call 'resonant' is just a clear, steady sound with an open vowel and usually with a mediocre audio quality in the clip which makes it seem like there's some ring. And absolutely. Strain is not the opposite of support. In fact you can use support and still strain. You can also not use support, be tense and NOT strain. Strain is a pretty severe problem. One that is pretty easy to spot.
