A vocalist, guitarist and songwriter, Billie Joe Armstrong found fame as the lead singer of rock group Green Day in the mid-'90s and early '00s. As frontman of arguably one of the most successful pop-punk bands of all time, Billie Joe contributed his vocals to some of pop punk's most iconic songs, including "Basket Case", "Welcome to Paradise" and "American Idiot". His songwriting struck a chord with many, writing lyrics about anxiety, drug use and just giving life a big middle finger. His voice, though, isn't much to write home about. While not an inherently bad singer, Billie Joe tends to sing solidly within his mid-range, with his upper register sounds unconfident beyond F♯4. Neither his upper nor his lower register are showcased often, though Billie Joe has demonstrated strengths in both, occasionally dipping comfortably down into the second octave ("Working Class Hero") and up into the fifth. Despite this, Billie Joe still remains one of the most recognisable voices in modern rock music, as his distinctive "no-fucks-given" delivery and slurry diction became synonymous with pop punk in the late '90s.
{A Few Examples of His Voice}
Solid lower notes and chesty belts up to G♯4.
Nice upper register demonstration.
Not the best cover, but a nice showcase of his warm lower register.

These involve (but are not limited to) notes of questionable identity, notes of questionable legitimacy and notes of significantly poor quality.
