This is an all-purpose thread for anything and everything related to his Royal Badness, Prince Rogers Nelson. There's very little to say about Prince that hasn't been said; for all the artists to have supposedly 'done it all', Prince truly did live up to such a hyperbolic statement, succeeding as a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, performer, and pretty much every hat you could possibly wear as musician. I was always a very casual Prince fan, having purchased The Hits / B-Sides when I was about 10 after falling in love with "Little Red Corvette," which is still my favorite song of all time. It unfortunately was not until after he died that I truly delved into his catalog; while I wish I had done it earlier, I'm glad I did at all: discovering the true depth of Prince's musical palette was and is one of the most rewarding experiences I've had as a listener. His repertoire is as mercurial as the man himself, going from catchy, accessible pop classics to aggressive rock and roll to gospel to jazz to funk to hip-hop, often within the same album. Not one Prince album sounds like the ones immediately book ending them, and even when he was not entirely successful with whatever he felt like dabbling in, it was always interesting. Few performers have left behind such a legacy, and with several posthumous releases on the docket from his 'vault,' Prince's will remain one rife for discussion and discovery for years to come.

One Nite Alone... is in my top 10 at this point, it's such a haunting and sexy album. And I've long been a proponent of The Rainbow Children. One Nite Alone 8 3121 9. Love Symbol 10. Come 11. Around the World in a Day 12. Hit N' Run Pt. 2 13. The Gold Experience 14. Controversy 15. Lovesexy 16. The Truth 17. Art Official Age 18. Batman 19.
