Reposting this from TRP2, so some major updates are gonna be necessary. Firstly, Failure has gotta go on the solos list and I figure the riff list needs a major update since I believe Jed Simon wrote The New Black, thoughts?

Weren't there a number of guest spot solos that were really good? Lower half of the list might well be imperiled, and yes, "Failure" for top spot without question. Quite a masterpiece of a solo.

For riffs, I have no idea how you measure it, but my choices would be

Well I've been wanting to change the concept from best riffs to best rhythm guitar performances in general, since grading how good a single riff is in isolation seems kinda pointless. Solos work a bit better that way, but they could probably also be switched to lead guitar performances. Your list is pretty solid, though I think Skeksis should be on there along with Oh My Fucking God.

In that case I would take off The Greys and Coast; SYL stuff is going to be more complete from that perspective.

Yeah that's fair. Also we should probably get some Deconstruction on there, the title track and The Mighty Masturbator coming to mind the most.

Just want to give shout-outs to the short and sweet solos on “Universal Flame” and “Before We Die” off of Sky Blue/Z2. Not top 10 worthy, but very tasty solos.
