Ronald Wayne Van Zant (15 January 1948 - 20 October 1977)
Member of: Lynyrd Skynyrd (1964 - 1977)
Vocal Range: E2 - E5
{Synopsis}Perhaps the most recognizable voice to come out of the '70s American southern rock scene, Ronnie Van Zant's warm baritone still dominates classic rock stations with its everyman charm and rustic balladry. Despite not seeming interested in exploring his vocal range nominally, Ronnie's songwriting and knowledge of his strengths played a big part in making him as iconic as he is even from way beyond the grave. Having a very neutral delivery in most of his songs, occasionally breaking into a soft falsetto or laryngeal rasping, Ronnie conveyed a sort of sardonic, even cynical quality to his character that seemed to subvert the southern stereotypes of the time. This aesthetic being especially pertinent in his low singing, Ronnie exuded a sort of resigned attitude to a nine-to-five meat-and-potatoes lifestyle that continues to be relevant in working class people around the world today. While the complexities of Ronnie's character may be lost forever to time, because of his immortal workaday image people will be playing "Free Bird" for any number of foreseeable years to come.

{Questionable Notes}F♯5 ("Gimme Three Steps"[1a])
..................................................
[1] Questionable representativeness.
a. Ambiguously pitched falsetto exclamations.
Questionable notes are any notes with a questionable significance. In short, this spoiler acknowledges notes that I am aware exist, but do not want to contribute to the singer's range. These involve (but are not limited to) weak vocal fry, uncontrolled slides, very short notes, notes hit at an ambiguous pitch and notes where it is unclear who is singing.
