Alex Skolnick is the virtuoso lead guitarist of the classic 80s thrash metal band Testament and his jazz fusion project the Alex Skolnick Trio. Known for his jazz background and for being trained by Joe Satriani, Alex is quite an anomaly in the thrash metal world especially of the 80s. His structured, melodic, soulful, and virtuosic solos made him instantly stand out in a world of whammy bar wankers and he's continued to push himself to develop in various musical directions over his career. He also played on the great Savatage album Handful of Rain.
