Gabriella Michelle Henderson
Voice Type: Mezzo-Soprano
Vocal Range: E♭3 - A6
{Background & Vocal Summary:}Ella Henderson is an English singer-songwriter known for songs such as "Ghost" and "Glow". She first gained attention in 2012 when she auditioned for "The X Factor" and became a favourite to win on the show. Despite this, she was eliminated in sixth place. Despite not winning the show, she did get signed to Syco Music and many celebrities had praised Ella including Cher, Adele, Lily Allen, etc. After appearing on several other shows performing covers and occasionally some original music, she soon began working on her debut album. The album which was titled "Chapter One" was soon released in October 2014 featuring the single "Ghost". The album received positive reviews and she soon embarked on a tour to promote it. After some touring, releasing a few more singles and making a few appearances on songs such as "Glitterball", not much is known about Ella's next album although she has made it clear that she is currently working on it.
Ella's voice type can be ambiguous as people could call her a mezzo or soprano, but she is likely a mezzo. Ella seems comfortable in most parts of her voice whether it's her lower extremes or higher extremes. She has a comfortable and fairly strong lower register ("Rockets", "Ghost", "Empire") which she likes to make good use of. She also excels in her highs whether she's belting, using head voice or even whistle register occasionally. Her belting can sound rough in the fifth octave at times but her belts are quite strong despite this ("Glow", "Glitterball", "The First Time"). Her head voice seems strong although she doesn't use it too often ("Hard Work", "Now You Say You Love Me Again") while her whistles are controlled well ("Billie Holiday", "Pieces"). Overall it is clear to see why Ella has received the praise she has gotten for her vocals.
