{About}The female lead vocalist in the a cappella group Pentatonix, Kirstin's role in the arrangements is an odd one; despite possessing as much vocal range as any of the other members, she's used arguably the most sparingly out of the three lead singers for their climactic passages. Instead, Kirstin's strength in Pentatonix has consistently been her ability to liven up the group's vocal harmonies with her colourful Broadway-meets-diva tone, elevating them from mere YouTube reaction-core to a distinctly American kind of nostalgia. Whether it be in their covers of old classics or their endless stream of Christmas albums, Kirstin - and, to a lesser extent, Pentatonix - was seemingly made to portray sappy saudade, which makes her perhaps the most likely candidate of the group to have a massively successful career even beyond Pentatonix. Pentatonix may have started its diminishing returns, but every single one of its members have the potential to grow past their novelty value and offer something more to pop music, and Kirstin is no exception.

lol I stated an opinion fam, if that's considered "backseat modding" then y'all are operating with a very loose definition.

As for the D3, personally I think it's rather unclear where exactly it bottoms (I hear something drift down to C3, and arguably since it's an octave unison it might even dip down to A2). I also recall some discussion on the old thread(s) about whether that was Kirstin or not, it's not impossible that it's Mitch or someone like that singing quietly.

I guess IMO if you count the note then maybe it would be worth putting an A2 in the spoiler to emphasize that it's an octave unison which might bottom lower than D3, but it's impossible to tell for sure. That would take care of both perspectives, if you catch my drift.

Hmm I agree with what others said in other threads: Some things are handled very inconsistently here. While some singers get denied certain notes because of a range gap of half an octave or less, she has two range gaps of a whole octave, and only hit the respective notes once. I don't say that you should remove her notes, but somethings should be harmonized here and applied equally for all singers

I was zoned out during that run down in "Location". The E3 is there now though. :)

The "Pretender" E3 sounds like Mitch switching parts up with Kirstin, honestly. The reason I say that is because, not only is there a noticeable cut between the two passages conjoining Kirstin's introduction and the E3, Mitch's E3s tend to sound more 'neutral' as opposed to Kirstin's who has to normally go for a more 'laryngeal' sound when reaching that low -- not to mention that strongly. I'm a bit unsure however, so other opinions are welcome. (:))

Range gaps are only an issue if there are other issues with the note as well. For example, if a singer peaks at A5 for the most part but has a shrill, brief, and shrieked F6, it's getting spoilered because of the crappy qualities of the note IN ADDITION to the range gap making it all the more misrepresentative. On the other hand, if a singer peaks at A5 for the most part but has a whistle A6 that's sustained well and would be counted in any other context, then the range gap isn't relevant.

For me that E3 has the same quality as the second E3 in Bad Weather ("ooh i never knew about me / LIKE they do"). The vibrato at the end of the phrase also screams Kirstie to me. But I guess it'll be all more clear with a live performance of the song X

And as my way to hop on the discussion, here are some whistle notes she hit earlier this year. As underused as they are I do not expect the best control (and imo these don't really deserve a place on the thread) but she still has them and I agree with the comment above.
