As one of the earliest envelope pushers of goth-rock, Siouxsie Sioux's imposing stage presence and dark aura sent the message to young women all over the world that they did not have to be "sexy" to sell their art. Siouxsie draws the kind of curiosity where you want to get closer, but your senses are telling you to keep your distance; an exhilaratingly animated stage presence.

An example of a naturally talented vocalist, initially a mezzo-soprano in the early banshee's run, Siouxsie used to deliver her vocals in a pseudo-melodic shout characteristic of the post-punk scene of the time. Having always posessed a remarkably strong lower register, her voice eventually darkened considerably and her lower register expanded to the extent that she was able to occasionally reach into the 2nd octave.
