{Vocal Summary}You awake, a cold sweat covers you. As your eyes adjust to your surroundings, you begin to panic as you realise you have no idea where you are. The last thing you remember was the elevator, but now you find yourself in a pale blue body of water, surrounded by soft emerald trees. The gentlest sound you've ever heard fills your eardrums, the lull of a thousand voices saturates your mind as you scream internally for freedom. An apparition appears on the water in front of you, you struggle to make out their face as they hover above the pool. But that voice, that unmistakable voice, the very same one that's currently would be soothing you thousandfold if the situation wasn't so bizarre and terrifying. Yes, you recognise that voice, it's none other than Ireland's biggest selling solo artist: Enya.
Often accused of being nothing more than inoffensive background muzak, Enya's delicate New Age sound possesses plenty of sonic merit in its own right and comes in a few more shades than a precursory glance would have you believe. The biggest talking point of Enya's music, generally, is her immensely layered vocal harmonies, sometimes hundreds at a time. She generally performs in a fragile head voice, demonstrating marvellous comfort and dead accurate intonation. On the other end, being quite a low-placed vocalist, her lower register is clear, comfortable and strong.
