• Underlines mark notes that are obscured in the song mix.
• Italics mark non-melodic notes.
• Bold marks moments where Gabrielle is a sky scraping dove.
English singer-songwriter, first gained exposure for her number one cover of "The Power of Love". Her two albums English Rain and Light Up the Dark were moderately successful, with singles like "Panic Cord" and "Please Don't Say You Love Me" reaching the charts in the UK. Gabrielle has a very soft soprano voice - she frequently makes use of her head voice to reach into the fifth octave. For a soprano, her lower register is quite solid, though she evidently likes to sing more in her upper register. Overall, Gabrielle's a really solid (if somewhat boxed-in) singer with a lot of potential.
{Questionable Notes}
A5 ("Skeleton" [5])
• [5] indicates notes of a questionable identity or origin. A lot of the backing vocals on Light Up the Dark are questionable - Alpin is credited with vocals on all tracks, but there are two female backing singers credited with background vocals. For the record, the backing vocals reach up to A5 in "Skeleton" (hence why that's the only one listed), but I'm fairly sure they're not her, considering how infrequently she's hit notes like this before. The only ones I have counted are the ones I'm certain are her.
..................................................................
Questionable notes are any notes with a questionable significance. In short, this spoiler acknowledges notes that I am aware exist, but do not want to contribute to the singer's range. These involve (but are not limited to) weak vocal fry, uncontrolled slides, very short notes, notes hit at an unspecific pitch and notes where it is unclear who is singing. For more information, see this thread.
