{Vocal Summary}More widely recognised in popular music as the outlandish guitarist for, and lowest voice in, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Responsible for heavily influencing the sound of their earlier albums, Blixa Bargeld has also been a long time contributor and pioneer of industrial music with his band Einstürzende Neubauten. Bargeld's guitar playing as a member of the Bad Seeds was often more atmospheric than it was melodic and with Einstürzende Neubauten, he has created and used instruments made out of literally anything, generally scrap metal.
As a vocalist, Bargeld can be quite an unpleasant listen for the uninitiated. As abrasive as the industrial music his group creates, most of his higher singing is rough, husky shouting, although he has demonstrated serviceable clean singing. The most famous aspect of his upper register of course is his inhaled "raptor screeches". Though not by any stretch of the imagination a part of his voice I can count towards his range, often breaking through various different pitches and rarely settling on anything specific (as well as potentially being produced by every part of his throat except his vocal cords). Bargeld, though not a strikingly low-placed baritone, is quite comfortable singing in most of the 2nd octave, much more so than Nick Cave for whom he often sung the lower vocal roles.
