Since tier lists seem to be a pretty popular form of showing your personal opinions towards a certain thing (and following a discussion I had with the lovely Baronessa), I decided to try and compile something of a Singer Tier List for myself, and seeing as we already had a Top 10 Favourite Singers thread, I thought it would be an interesting topic for others to explore. In short, separate singers you've listened to at least somewhat substantially (listening to the odd track or two of theirs doesn't really constitute "substantial" to me) into different tiers of your choosing. You could divide into as many or as few tiers as you see fit - the only real criteria is that your tier list should be based on voices and not music quality (hence why Karen Carpenter is above Joni Mitchell in my list). If you're particularly passionate about some singers, you could even assemble a loose order within tiers, though this is optional (and probably more likely just to be on the singers you seriously do care about). {The Alex61 Queen List (INCOMPLETE)}

I found the idea of highlighting what you tend to find exciting in singing interesting, so the weird picks are running wild now. Fun times. Going just on voice I guess. Kind of hard because it's rare that I dislike just a voice actively. I hate certain styles (like that 'breathy indie girl' style) but since I don't listen to styles I don't like it's not to say honestly that I've listened to individual 'hated' voices widely. Saw this and thought I’d give it a go. I appreciate a good, rangey singer, but when they show their range off too much (à la range wankery) I can’t abide.
