Perhaps one of the most unfortunate cases of a singer's posthumous career bringing them more recognition than they had in their lifetime, Eva Cassidy was an American singer known for her interpretations of jazz, soul and pop songs songs. Eva was a unique presence in music, with her guitar-based covers of songs covering an eclectic array of genres and musicians from Cyndi Lauper to Louis Armstrong. Though only one studio album was recorded in her lifetime (a duet one, at that), Eva's legacy as one of America's most talented vocalists of all time remains.
Vocally, Eva famously often opted for a rather soft vocal approach, singing in a soft head voice in the fifth octave ("Songbird"). Eva was also a surprisingly belt-y singer, with her more upbeat numbers showcasing how she was comfortable pulling her chest voice all the way up to the fifth octave ("Drown in My Own Tears", "God Bless the Child"). Eva's tone was her biggest asset, though - a light soprano, her voice had a raw, emotive quality to it which had audiences listening to her every lyric. A true "classic" voice, Eva was an extremely talented singer, still serving as an inspiration for a lot of singers today.
{A Few Examples of Her Voice}
Lovely soft singing throughout here. One of her best known covers.
Eva's own favourite song. Plenty of dynamic changes and some great chesty notes.
Another example of her soaring high notes.

Questionable notes are any notes of questionable significance. In short, this spoiler acknowledges notes that I am aware exist, but do not want to contribute to the singer's range. These involve (but are not limited to) notes of questionable identity, notes of questionable legitimacy and notes of significantly poor quality.
