Singer for Big Wreck as well as his solo band Thornley. One of the most distinctive and impressive vocalists in 90s as well as modern Canadian rock, Thornley's voice definitely soars above many of the others on the radio today. A powerful gritty belter able to focus his power in both the fourth and fifth octaves, he is often compared to Chris Cornell due to the strong, well controlled tone he maintains throughout his higher range, usually tending to use the best climactic opportunity to show off his abilites, rarely ever using his high range in a non-tasteful way, usually keeping his main focused area in the A4-C♯5 range. He also makes use of his noticeably weighty baritone mid range to great soothing effect as well, able to add some rasp to it here and there when considered necessary. Despite the deepness of his timbre, Thornley's lower range is ironically much less explored, using it only for very special occasions (the main examples being in the fairly recent tracks "Just to Know I Can" and "On My Way"). Thornley is overall one of my favourite voices to come out of my home country and am always to looking forward to his new material, seeing as he has maintained the strength of his voice throughout his nearly 20 year career.
