Not sure if this has been brought up before, but calling that live improv D6 a questionable note is just kinda ridiculous:


I also don't hear anything questionable about the notes in his "Communication Breakdown" cover, other than the fact that the tape speed is probably wrong on the recording. If you tried shifting that down by a whole step you'd probably have a bunch of pretty legit high notes worth counting.

Could I get a link to that one? I still don't think I've heard a legit F6 by him to date, despite him having been listed for one since at least TRP2.

But yeah, I think this thread in general could use some de-TRP3ing with some of the notes that are still being considered questionable

How are people feeling about the "One Year of Love" F♯5 these days anyway? I remember that one launched a fierce debate on TRP3 when I tried to argue that it shouldn't be considered questionable, but it also seems like a lot of people have now admitted that their standards were way too strict on TRP3 and have since loosened up, soooo...

Post a link to that in the McCartney thread and tag me, and I'll give my assessment. I'm not the best at judging when whistles are inhaled or not, but as far as I'm concerned there are a lot of notes that got spoilered back on TRP3 that really didn't deserve to be (that Freddie D6 being a prime example of that, for instance), so if we're more open to reconsidering those verdicts nowadays, I'd be all for giving them more discussion.

Eh fine, if people still aren't warming up to that one I guess I'll quit while I'm ahead here.

How do you feel about the "Communication Breakdown" high notes though? If we could get that recording shifted down to the correct tape speed, I think those would all be 100% countable.

I agree with that, yeah. I mean it seems pretty easily deducible that it was performed in the original key.

So that would make the F♯5s at 1:07 E5s, the A5 at 1:20 a G5, and then the string of G♯5 falsettos starting at 1:34 F♯5s. Any disagreements on these being countable/as those pitches?

Unfortunately I'm pretty sure RINGO isn't updating this thread anymore, so we'll either need to have someone take it over or have one of the admins edit these notes in if we ever want to see any actual changes on it.
