Hello, In this thread I will be cataloguing both classical and operatic singers' vocal ranges as I am slowly getting through Michael Scott's five volumes of the Record of Singing. In the spreadsheet below are all the completed and updated threads will be linked. Relevant information is also going to be provided. Singers with lesser amount of recordings will be posted in this very thread. Singers are listed by both their natural voice and also by the repertoire they chose to perform, hence why someone like Louise Homer is both in the contralto and mezzo-soprano section. Feel free to discuss any things operatic voice in this thread as well.

Yeah. He sings reoccurring E2s in the video that you linked elsewhere. Range expansion ? That B4 sounds like an M2 note. Wait, which video? I don't recall hearing an E2 from him. No, those are A2s. Not sure how I came up with that. Maybe I heard a really dark E3 somewhere.

He has some crazy E4s through G4s. They have the color of a bass, but they don't sound as if he's reaching for them.

Makes sense. That being said, he definitely had a low E. I read his range was from a low C to a high A. He has some crazy E4s through G4s. They have the color of a bass, but they don't sound as if he's reaching for them. That's why I called him a bass-baritone. His tessitura doesn't really say bass to me.

Emma Calve is one of the only sopranos who made a great usage of the flute register or the upper head voice or the 'fourth voice' register in classical soprano repertoire that was not of coloratura nature. It allowed her to float very easily above the staff, a feat she could not have accomplished in her normal head register due to her lower than average tessitura. That C#6 sounds hollow and devoid of character to me, almost like a sinus wave. It is a flute register (some also call it upper head voice - although it does not have anything to do with the range it is used in). A form of M2 that a lot of people use to get above the staff, very notable with a lot of coloraturas. It is also naturally connected to the flageolet whistle register. In pop voice you can hear it for example with Cleo Laine - youtu.be/XYbAmUsFFDI?t=180 Or... Dimash actually. Or pretty much most singers who sing effortlessly in the sixth. This register can actually pack quite a punch and project a lot but it's never going to be as punchy as a normal head register. Coloraturas such as Hallstein ( youtu.be/3lKC3z6PGcI?t=85 ) or Erna Sack or really anyone who really SOARS up there use it a lot.
